Saw this video over on CNET earlier so did a little further digging over on the ThickButtons web site where there is a much better video explaining what ThickButtons is about.

Essentially it works like a predictive text dictionary for touchscreen handsets but as it anticipates the words it thinks you are typing it makes only the letters of the words it is anticipating bigger on screen. Very simple but an interesting idea. It is only for Android 1.6 at the moment but a Windows Mobile 7 version is currently in development according to a community posting and better than that it is FREE!!! I wonder if they have patented it because I can see handset manufacturers implementing a similar idea. ThickButtons say they will port it to other platforms if they get requests from manufacturers but my feeling is they should just develop them anyway.
