I have only recently been drawn into Twitter. I just thought it was another status update system as you do in Facebook, and in some ways it is but for some reason, maybe by the calibre of people i have met on it, it seems much more useful, especially with things like blog feeds as updates.

But it has its problems. With no revenue coming in how does it maintain a service, and a lot of the time it doesn’t. When it works its great, I love it, and when it doesn’t, its just damn frustrating..but I’m a new twitterer so I cant really complain..others can though…. Continue reading

What can you say..it looks like it should be a prop in The Island or Blade Runner but apparently its a fully working laptop…..sweet!

That’s what Stephen Reed’s new ceramic cup delivers.  Inspired by a computer heat sink the raised ridges insulate your fingers from the hot beverage by air.  I don’t think its available for consumer purchase yet but hopefully somebody can pick it up and get it manufactured as I’m sure there’s quite a market for this.

Manhatten Story Mashup

I really think this is a great idea that I would like to try in the UK. “Manhattan Story Mashup is an urban game, taking place on September 23rd 2006 in Manhattan, New York City. During the event, approximately 250 players will move around Manhattan, taking photos which match a given target. Targets are words from stories, written by you and other visitors on this web site collaboratively while the game goes on. The resulting illustrated stories are shown on large public signs in Times Square in real-time and on this web site.

Im going to log on tomorrow to see how it goes but if anybody takes part please let me know how it goes.

mojopac

The Red Ferret is raving about mojopac.  Its a service/software solution that you install on any portable device but I guess USB Flash drive would be best but after instaltion you basically have your whole XP desktop on the USB dongle for you to take around with you..this really is Hot Desking in action.

Solar Boat – Sun21

I’ve seen a lot of info on solar boats recently and cam across this web site telling the story of the development of SUN21 – a 14 meter catamaran solar powered boat that is setting out to cross the Atlantic and aiming to create the first motorised crossing that doesn’t use gasoline. Great idea and I hope they do some kind of live tracking from their web site to follow. More over at Transalantic21

To Stumble, something I’ve been doing a lot recently. An online community that lets you let you rate and review websites via an add in toolbar in your web browser. Its half blog, half myspace. You can add your interests, join groups and find fellow surfers who have similar tastes. Cool..take a stumble

Nice idea. Not revolutionary and probably will became part of your core home communication system, but Phillips Touch Screen Message Board is out there now. Each household member has a thumbnail image which you can click and leave a message for. You can also record a video message or send a message to the board via MMS or SMS. Now tie that into your calender and your off. Cool. Via Wired & Crunchgear. Edit: apparently is just a concept at the moment..shame.

The Tenth Dimension

A truly fantastic web site that’s truly going to make you think about time, space and flatliners. It’s designed to push a book but their truly great flash explanation of how to imagine the 10th – and all the other 9, dimensions is simply fascinating. Imagining the Tenth Dimension.
